ADWLE Launches Dishwashing Liquid Workshops, Empowers Women, and Provides New Income

ADWLE launched several skills-building workshops in different districts in Vientiane to teach villagers how to produce dishwashing liquid, offering a new source of income and empowering women.

With a mission to uplift the lives of those affected by COVID-19, the ADWLE conducted hands-on training on dishwashing liquid production in five target villages in the Sikhottabong district. The training started with a demonstration of the chemical components used and their effects on the production process. Then, the team provided step-by-step guidance on how to mix the ingredients in the right proportions and order while emphasizing safety precautions. In the last session of the training, the trainers also suggested ways to store the finished product for maximum shelf life and potential marketing channels. The workshop took place from March 13th to March 17th, 2023, and was followed by another five-day training session in five additional villages in the Pakngeum district from March 18th to March 22nd.

In addition, the project had a significant empowering effect on the women in the community who had traditionally been marginalized and denied equal opportunities. Many of them took on leadership roles in the production process and demonstrated highly skilled management abilities.

Overall, the ADWLE training sessions ended with great success, providing residents of the Sikottabong and Pakngeum districts with a new stream of income well as a newfound sense of pride in their skills. Through these efforts, ADWLE hopes to bring about a positive change in the lives of those impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, giving them a glimmer of hope for a better tomorrow.
